Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Urban Designer to join our dynamic team in Rotherham. In this hybrid role, you will contribute to a diverse range of exciting projects, from large-scale masterplans and regeneration schemes to public realm improvements and design guidance. You will work closely with planners, architects, landscape architects, and engineers to create innovative and sustainable urban environments. Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual urban design proposals, masterplans, and public realm strategies.
- Prepare high-quality design drawings, diagrams, and visualisations using various software.
- Conduct site analysis, urban capacity studies, and policy reviews.
- Contribute to design workshops, stakeholder engagement, and community consultation events.
- Prepare design and access statements, urban design frameworks, and regeneration strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
- Present design concepts and findings to clients and project stakeholders.
- Support project managers in delivering projects on time and within budget.
Required Skills
- Degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and SketchUp.
- Strong graphic communication and visualisation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Understanding of UK planning policy and urban design principles.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Design or a related field.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Knowledge of BIM and 3D modelling software (e.g., Revit, Rhino).
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RTPI, LI, RIBA).
- Experience in a consultancy environment.
