Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Venture Capital Analyst to join our dynamic investment team in Yeovil. This role is crucial for identifying, evaluating, and supporting early-stage and growth companies with high potential for disruption and significant returns. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our investment lifecycle, from deal sourcing and due diligence to portfolio management and exit strategy support. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify emerging trends and investment opportunities.
- Source and evaluate potential investment opportunities, including reviewing business plans, financial models, and pitch decks.
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on prospective portfolio companies, assessing management teams, market potential, technology, and competitive landscape.
- Develop detailed financial models and valuation analyses to support investment decisions.
- Prepare investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
- Support portfolio companies with strategic advice, operational guidance, and follow-on funding rounds.
- Monitor the performance of existing portfolio companies and provide regular reports.
- Assist in the preparation of exit strategies and support M&A activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and co-investors.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, or a related analytical role.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated passion for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, STEM, or a related field; CFA candidacy or MBA is a plus.
- Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
- Familiarity with the UK startup ecosystem, particularly in the South West region.
- Previous experience conducting commercial due diligence.
