Job Description
Join Capgemini as a Virtual Website Accessibility Tester and contribute to making the digital world inclusive for everyone. This 100% remote role is perfect for individuals passionate about web accessibility and who have personal or emerging experience using screen readers. You will play a crucial part in identifying accessibility barriers and ensuring our clients’ digital products meet WCAG standards. We welcome candidates with a user-centric approach and a desire to learn and grow in the field of digital accessibility. Full training on professional testing methodologies and tools will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility testing on websites and web applications using various assistive technologies, with a focus on screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
- Identify, document, and report accessibility issues and violations of WCAG 2.1 AA standards using clear, concise language.
- Collaborate with development teams to explain accessibility issues and suggest potential solutions.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with accessibility guidelines and best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) concepts.
- Demonstrable experience using at least one major screen reader (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) for personal browsing or basic testing.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Passion for digital accessibility and inclusive design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, Axe, Lighthouse).
- Knowledge of other assistive technologies (e.g., keyboard navigation, speech recognition).
- Prior experience in a testing or quality assurance role (even non-professional).
