Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Water & Wastewater Engineer to join our dynamic team in Timmins, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that serve communities across Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of project delivery, from conceptual design and analysis through to construction support. Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage engineering design activities for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution/collection systems.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling, process calculations, and feasibility studies.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Ensure projects comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
- Participate in client meetings, project proposals, and business development initiatives.
- Perform site visits for data collection, inspections, and construction oversight as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in water and wastewater engineering.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., WaterCAD, SewerCAD, MIKE URBAN) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, design principles, and relevant Canadian standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Ontario or eligibility for registration.
- Experience with project management and client liaison.
- Familiarity with Northern Ontario municipal infrastructure projects.
- Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit).
