Job Description
Join our dedicated team at St. Francis Wildlife Association as a Wildlife Rescue Center Laborer. This vital role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our rehabilitating animals and staff. You will be responsible for heavy-duty cleaning tasks, facility upkeep, and general labor to support our mission. This is a physically demanding yet incredibly rewarding position for someone who is passionate about animal welfare and doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty for a noble cause. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily heavy cleaning and sanitization of animal enclosures, rehabilitation areas, and shared facilities.
- Mop, scrub, power wash, and disinfect various surfaces to maintain strict hygiene standards.
- Assist with laundry services for animal bedding and towels.
- Empty trash and recycling bins regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas, offices, and visitor spaces.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely.
- Assist with groundskeeping tasks as needed, including sweeping, raking, and general outdoor tidiness.
- Help with the organization and stocking of supplies.
- Report any maintenance issues or animal care concerns to appropriate staff.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and animal handling guidelines.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting, bending, scrubbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in an environment with animal waste, strong odors, and cleaning chemicals.
- Reliable, punctual, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Keen attention to detail regarding cleanliness and hygiene.
- Willingness to learn and follow strict protocols.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning, labor, or animal care role (volunteer or paid) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with proper use of cleaning agents and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
