Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting entry-level career that combines technical skill with adventure? Vestas Wind Systems is seeking a dedicated and fearless individual to join our team as a Trainee Wind Turbine Blade Inspector. This is a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector. You will undergo comprehensive training to become an expert in inspecting wind turbine blades, identifying potential issues, and ensuring the structural integrity of these crucial components. This role involves working at heights, extensive travel across the UK, and contributing directly to the efficiency and safety of wind energy production. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with no prior experience but a strong aptitude for practical work and a willingness to learn and travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all required training modules and certifications for wind turbine blade inspection.
- Travel to various wind farm locations across the UK, often in remote areas.
- Ascend wind turbines and access blades using appropriate safety equipment.
- Perform visual inspections of wind turbine blades, documenting any damage or defects.
- Utilize specialized inspection tools and technologies as trained.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and communicate findings to senior technicians.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance inspection skills.
- Assist senior inspectors with more complex inspection tasks as required.
Required Skills
- Comfortable working at significant heights (training provided for safe access).
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, often requiring overnight stays.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and adhere to safety protocols.
- Basic computer literacy for report generation.
- Full valid UK driving license (essential due to travel requirements).
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a role requiring travel or outdoor work.
- Enthusiasm for renewable energy and sustainable technologies.
- Basic knowledge of engineering or mechanical principles (not essential, but a plus).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
