Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our team as a Zoo & Aquarium Public Education Intern. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental education within a leading conservation organization. You will support the education team in developing and delivering engaging educational programs and activities for diverse audiences, helping to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for wildlife and conservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of educational programs, workshops, and tours for various age groups (schools, families, general public).
- Support educators in preparing educational materials, including presentations, activity sheets, and interpretive signage.
- Engage with zoo visitors to provide information about animals, conservation efforts, and the zoo's mission.
- Help facilitate interactive learning experiences at exhibits and designated education zones.
- Participate in outreach events and community programs as required.
- Contribute to the evaluation of educational programs and activities.
- Learn about animal husbandry and conservation techniques through observation and team interaction.
- Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment for all participants.
Required Skills

- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Zoology, Biology, Environmental Science, Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience (volunteer or paid) working with children or in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Scottish wildlife or global conservation issues.
- A valid UK driving license.
