Job Description
Join the Downer Group team in Tamworth as a Civil Construction Labourer! This is an outstanding opportunity for dedicated individuals to kick-start or advance their career in civil construction. We’re offering a high hourly rate for reliable, hard-working labourers, coupled with comprehensive machine training. If you’re physically fit, eager to learn, and committed to safety, we want to hear from you. You’ll work on diverse projects, contributing to vital infrastructure development while gaining valuable skills and experience with our supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labouring duties on civil construction sites, including digging, trenching, and site preparation.
- Assist skilled tradespersons and machine operators with various tasks.
- Operate a range of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Participate actively in learning and operating civil construction machinery under supervision.
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Maintain a clean and organised work site, adhering to all housekeeping standards.
- Comply strictly with all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant WHS legislation.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Contribute positively to a strong team environment.

- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Current Construction Induction Card (White Card) is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a labouring role, preferably within construction or a similar outdoor environment (though full training will be provided for dedicated entry-level candidates).
- Current Australian Driver's License.
- Basic understanding of civil construction processes.
- Experience operating small plant equipment (e.g., compaction rollers, quick-cut saws) is a bonus but not essential.
