Job Description
We are actively seeking experienced and compassionate Emergency Room (ER) Nurses to join our dynamic team at UVA Health System in Charlottesville. This is an exciting opportunity for international nurses as this position is LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) Approved and offers comprehensive Visa Sponsorship. As an ER Nurse, you will be at the forefront of critical care, providing immediate and life-saving interventions to patients experiencing a wide range of medical conditions and traumas. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments, prioritizing based on acuity and urgency.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatments, escalating changes appropriately.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Document all patient care activities, observations, and outcomes thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record.
- Initiate and participate in emergency codes and resuscitation efforts.
- Maintain a sterile environment and ensure proper use and disposal of medical equipment and supplies.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia, or eligibility to obtain licensure via endorsement.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Room or critical care setting.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in high-stress situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Specialty certification such as Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
- Experience with Epic EMR system.
- Previous experience working in a teaching hospital or academic medical center environment.
