Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Livestock Feed Hand to join our team for casual day shifts at our facility in Mount Barker, SA. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is reliable, and has a strong work ethic. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in the agricultural sector. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of livestock through consistent and accurate feed distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute various types of feed to livestock according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
- Monitor feed intake and report any concerns regarding animal health or feeding patterns.
- Assist with general yard and pen maintenance, including cleaning and mucking out.
- Operate basic farm machinery safely, such as forklifts or loaders, for moving feed materials (training provided).
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of feed storage areas and equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines diligently.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled casual shifts.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand feeding charts and record keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a farm, agricultural, or labouring environment is beneficial but not essential.
- Current driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Understanding of basic animal welfare principles.
- Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
