Job Description
Join BASF’s innovative team in Chelsea, New York City, as a Biodegradable Plastics Factory Worker. This critical on-site role involves operating and maintaining machinery in our state-of-the-art pilot facility focused on the production of biodegradable plastic materials. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions, working rotating shifts to ensure continuous operation and adherence to strict quality and safety standards. This position requires a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor production machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing of biodegradable plastics.
- Perform routine quality checks on raw materials and finished products, recording data accurately.
- Load and unload materials from machines, ensuring proper material handling and storage.
- Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance on equipment, escalating complex issues to technicians.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors during rotating shifts.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions and safety procedures.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with production machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, especially in plastics or chemicals.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or similar quality systems.
- High School Diploma or GED.
