Job Description
Apex Innovations Inc. is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic User Research (UXR) Intern to join our product team in Mott Haven, The Bronx. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced tech startup environment. As a UXR Intern, you will play a crucial role in understanding user needs, behaviors, and motivations, directly contributing to the design and development of our innovative products. You will work closely with experienced UX Researchers, designers, and product managers, learning foundational research methodologies and contributing to actionable insights that shape our user experience. This is an ideal position for someone passionate about user-centered design and eager to kickstart their career in UX research.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of user research studies, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, and contextual inquiries.
- Help recruit participants for various research activities.
- Collect and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data from user research sessions.
- Support the analysis of research findings to identify user pain points, needs, and opportunities.
- Contribute to the creation of research artifacts such as user personas, journey maps, and research reports.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to translate research insights into actionable recommendations.
- Learn and apply best practices in user research methodologies and ethical research conduct.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of user research principles and methodologies (e.g., from coursework)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office)
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Design, or a related field
- Familiarity with UX research tools (e.g., Figma, Qualtrics, UserTesting.com)
- Experience with statistical software or data analysis tools is a plus
- A portfolio showcasing academic projects or personal work related to user research or design
