Job Description
Are you a passionate animal lover with a deep respect for horses and a flair for storytelling? Yorkshire Heritage Carriages is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Carriage / Horse-Drawn Tour Driver to join our team in Bradford. This unique tourism role involves safely operating our beautiful horse-drawn carriages, providing engaging commentary to guests, and ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for preparing horses, maintaining equipment, and delivering memorable experiences, all while showcasing the charm and history of West Yorkshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate horse-drawn carriages for scheduled tours.
- Provide informative and engaging commentary about local landmarks, history, and culture to guests.
- Ensure the well-being, health, and comfort of the horses at all times, including feeding, grooming, and stable management.
- Conduct pre-tour and post-tour checks of carriages, harnesses, and other equipment.
- Assist guests with boarding and disembarking the carriage, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Handle customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentability of carriages and stable areas.
Required Skills
- Proven experience handling and caring for horses (minimum 2 years).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A valid UK driving license (general driving skills are helpful for transporting equipment).
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical fitness to perform duties related to horse care and carriage operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a tourism or hospitality role.
- Knowledge of local history and points of interest in West Yorkshire.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience driving horse-drawn vehicles.
