Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable Seafood Sorter to join our early morning team in Port Adelaide. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and accurate sorting of various seafood products before they reach our customers. You will work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment, playing a key part in our processing operations. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the seafood industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately sort and grade various types of seafood according to company standards and specifications.
  • Inspect seafood for quality, freshness, size, and defects, removing any non-conforming items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering strictly to hygiene, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Assist with the packaging, weighing, and labeling of sorted products as per production requirements.
  • Operate basic sorting and processing equipment safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets and quality benchmarks.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, product quality issues, or safety concerns promptly to management.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong work ethic.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 15kg frequently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing sorting tasks.
  • Basic communication skills to effectively interact with team members and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
  • Commitment to adhering to all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a production, warehouse, or seafood processing environment (not mandatory, as full training is provided).
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (e.g., HACCP principles).
  • A current Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
