Job Description
Are you passionate about plants and enjoy working outdoors? Greenlife Nursery Maitland is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Part-time Nursery Hand to join our friendly team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an active, outdoor environment, enjoys day work, and is eager to learn about horticulture. As a Nursery Hand, you will be crucial in maintaining the health and beauty of our plants and ensuring our nursery is well-presented for our customers. No prior extensive experience is required as full training will be provided; we value a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn above all else.
Key Responsibilities
- Watering plants and ensuring optimal hydration levels
- Potting and repotting plants as needed
- Moving and arranging plants, soil, and other nursery stock
- Assisting with general nursery maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Pruning, weeding, and pest management under supervision
- Assisting customers with locating plants and basic product inquiries
- Maintaining a tidy and organised work environment
- Unloading and organising new plant deliveries
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and bending, in an outdoor environment
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Positive attitude and good communication skills
- Enthusiasm for plants and gardening
Preferred Qualifications
- A genuine interest in horticulture or gardening
- Previous experience in a similar outdoor or manual labor role (even if informal)
- Current driver's license and reliable transport
