Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Communications Assistant to join our dedicated team in Ely. This role is pivotal in supporting our communications efforts across various channels, helping us share the stories of our protected places and engage with our diverse audiences. You will play a key role in content creation, administrative support, and ensuring our messages are clear, consistent, and impactful. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation and distribution of engaging content for digital platforms (website, social media) and traditional media (press releases, newsletters).
- Support the planning and execution of communications campaigns and events.
- Monitor media coverage and social media trends, providing regular reports.
- Maintain and update communication calendars and databases.
- Proofread and edit communications materials to ensure accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Respond to public inquiries and media requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide administrative support to the wider communications team, including scheduling meetings, managing supplies, and processing invoices.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital content creation.
- A passion for heritage, conservation, and the mission of the National Trust.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field.
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a communications or administrative role.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms.
- Knowledge of local media landscapes in Cambridgeshire.
