Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our team as Public School Bus Drivers. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of schoolchildren across York. The role is offered on a Term Time Only basis, allowing for extended breaks during school holidays. We offer comprehensive training for candidates who hold a valid car driving licence (Category B) and are eager to gain their Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport schoolchildren on designated routes, adhering to timetables and road safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the bus.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers, ensuring a positive and safe journey.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour at all times.
- Assist passengers as needed, including those with mobility challenges.
- Manage passenger behaviour effectively and safely.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as traffic laws.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Minimum of 2 years driving experience.
- Excellent driving record with no disqualifications.
- Strong commitment to safety and passenger welfare.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with the York road network.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or interest in vehicle maintenance.
- First Aid qualification (training can be provided).
