Job Description
We are seeking vigilant and proactive Public Transit Security Officers to join our team in Newquay. This role involves maintaining a visible presence across our transit network, deterring criminal activity, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the safety and security of passengers and staff. You will be an integral part of our commitment to delivering reliable and secure public transport services, working varied shifts to cover our operational hours. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated transit stations, platforms, and vehicles to maintain a secure environment.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and respond promptly to alarms or suspicious activities.
- Enforce company policies and regulations, as well as local laws, within the transit system.
- Provide assistance and information to passengers, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- De-escalate conflicts and resolve disturbances peacefully and effectively.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and safety hazards, coordinating with emergency services as needed.
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate logs of daily activities.
- Conduct security checks and inspections of property and equipment.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and transit authorities to enhance overall security.
- Act as a visible deterrent to crime and antisocial behavior.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license.
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Physical fitness to conduct patrols and respond to incidents.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security role, particularly within public transport or a high-volume public environment.
- Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- Full UK Driving License.
- Knowledge of local transit routes and operations in Cornwall.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
