Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Astrobiology Research Intern to join our dynamic lab team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on understanding the origin, evolution, and distribution of life in the universe. The successful candidate will gain invaluable hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, data collection, and scientific methodology within an astrobiology context. This role is ideal for an undergraduate student passionate about space science, planetary geology, chemistry, or biology, eager to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical research setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers with experimental setup and execution in a controlled laboratory environment.
- Perform routine sample preparation, including sterilization, dilution, and media formulation.
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and spectrophotometers.
- Collect, organize, and record experimental data accurately and meticulously.
- Contribute to data analysis under the guidance of faculty and graduate students.
- Prepare and present summaries of research findings to the lab team.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist with literature reviews and background research related to ongoing projects.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Environmental Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in astrobiology, space science, or planetary exploration.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
