Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Master Distiller / Blender to join our team in Great Falls, Montana. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our distillation, maturation, and blending processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency across our entire product portfolio. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader, capable of innovating new products while meticulously maintaining the integrity of our established brands. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all distillation, maturation, and blending operations, ensuring optimal efficiency and quality.
- Develop and implement new product formulations, from concept to commercialization, including whiskies, bourbons, and other spirits.
- Oversee inventory management of raw materials, spirits in production, and aged stock, including barrel management programs.
- Maintain stringent quality control standards throughout the entire production process, from grain to bottle.
- Manage and mentor a team of distillers and production staff, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to spirits production and safety.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to communicate product stories and represent the brand at industry events.
- Optimize production processes for cost-effectiveness and scalability without compromising quality.
- Conduct sensory analysis and tasting panels to ensure product consistency and identify new flavor profiles.
- Manage equipment maintenance and calibration schedules.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Master Distiller, Head Distiller, or Lead Blender in a commercial distillery.
- Deep understanding of fermentation science, distillation techniques (pot and column stills), and barrel aging processes.
- Expertise in sensory evaluation and blending of whiskies and other spirits.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of TTB regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to innovate and develop new spirit formulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fermentation Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
- Certification from a recognized distilling institute or program.
- Experience with distillery automation systems and software.
- A portfolio of successful new product launches.
- Prior experience working with local grain suppliers and agricultural partners.
