Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commissioning Technician with a strong focus on plant operations to join our team in Alice Springs. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the successful pre-commissioning, commissioning, and optimization of various industrial plant systems. This involves conducting comprehensive tests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that all plant equipment operates efficiently and in compliance with design specifications and safety standards. You will work hands-on with electrical, mechanical, and control systems, playing a vital part in bringing new and upgraded facilities online.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Conduct thorough testing and calibration of plant equipment and instrumentation.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues during commissioning phases.
- Perform functional tests, loop checks, and system integration tests.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, test results, and modifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure seamless handover of commissioned plants.
- Provide technical support and training to operations personnel as required.
- Participate in site safety meetings and adhere to all work health and safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Technician or similar role in industrial plants.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation principles.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagrams.
- Proficiency in using testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to WHS regulations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical Fitter) or Diploma in Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SCADA and PLC systems.
- Prior experience in the water, energy, or mining sectors.
- Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications.
- First Aid qualification.
