Job Description
Join Alberta Health Services as a Trainee Occupational Therapy Aide and embark on a rewarding career in public healthcare. You will work under the direct supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists, assisting in the delivery of patient care and supporting therapeutic interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing treatment plans and therapeutic activities for patients.
- Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and materials as directed.
- Provide one-on-one support and encouragement to patients during therapy sessions.
- Observe and report on patient progress, challenges, and responses to therapy to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living as needed.
- Document patient interactions and observations accurately.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, privacy regulations, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Eagerness to learn and commitment to professional development.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Physical ability to assist with patient transfers and mobility, as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or community setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology (an asset, but not required).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid.
