Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Oracle and SQL Server to join our technology team in Richmond Hill, Ontario. This role is crucial for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our complex database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security of critical financial systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and SQL Server databases and associated products.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and migration operations.
  • Monitor database performance, implement tuning strategies, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage database security, user access, and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Implement and maintain database high availability solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, SQL AlwaysOn).
  • Develop and maintain database scripts, stored procedures, and automation tools.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application queries and database design.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support and incident resolution.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and best practices.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server administration and T-SQL.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting.
  • Solid understanding of database security best practices.
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies for large databases.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with ITIL framework and change management processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
