The Office of the Ceredigion Member of the Senedd serves the constituents of Ceredigion by representing their interests in the Senedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament) and providing support and assistance on local and national issues. Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legislative Aide Intern to join our team in Aberystwyth. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about public service and the legislative process to gain invaluable hands-on experience within a state/provincial government setting. The intern will support the Member of the Senedd and their staff in various capacities, contributing to legislative research, constituent relations, and office administration. This role offers a unique chance to learn about policy development, local governance, and the day-to-day operations of a political office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on various policy issues, legislative proposals, and constituent concerns.
  • Assist with drafting correspondence, reports, and briefing materials.
  • Support constituent casework by logging inquiries, gathering information, and tracking progress.
  • Attend meetings, briefings, and public events, taking notes as required.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, data entry, and file management.
  • Assist with social media content creation and communication outreach.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Member or senior staff.

Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Welsh language skills are a plus).
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A keen interest in politics, public policy, and community affairs.
  • Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer experience in political campaigns, community organizations, or public service.
  • Familiarity with the Welsh political landscape and Senedd processes.
