Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Mechatronics Engineering Intern to join our Automated Systems team in Salinas, CA. This entry-level internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the integration of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering principles within a fast-paced agricultural technology environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of automated systems critical to our operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in the design, development, and testing of automated machinery and robotic systems.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of PLC-controlled systems.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Help document project progress, system specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  • Contribute to the assembly, calibration, and maintenance of mechatronic components and systems.
  • Learn and apply industry best practices in automation and robotics.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Familiarity with fundamental electrical circuits and control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous academic project experience involving robotics, automation, or mechatronic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) or microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
  • Experience with sensor integration and data acquisition.
