Job Description
Join our dedicated team at Warrnambool Pet Haven & Cattery as a Cattery Hand! This part-time position involves assisting with the daily care and well-being of our feline guests during day shifts. It’s a rewarding role perfect for animal lovers seeking easy, consistent work in a supportive environment. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary – just a genuine love for cats and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily feeding and watering of cats according to specific dietary instructions.
- Cleaning and sanitizing cat enclosures, litter trays, and common areas to maintain high hygiene standards.
- Monitoring the health and well-being of cats, reporting any concerns to the supervisor.
- Providing gentle interaction, play, and enrichment for cats.
- Administering medication as per instructions (after training).
- Maintaining inventory of food, litter, and cleaning supplies.
- Assisting with general facility upkeep and laundry tasks.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for animals, especially cats.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and pay attention to detail.
- Physically able to perform cleaning tasks and lift moderate weights.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an animal care setting (volunteer or paid) is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of basic cat behaviour and health indicators.
- First aid certification for animals (beneficial but not essential).
