Job Description
Are you passionate about making a positive impact and eager to learn the fundamentals of disability support within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework? This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supporting individuals with disabilities in Port Hedland. We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate individuals who are keen to learn, develop new skills, and contribute to our community. Full training on NDIS standards, client support, and safety protocols will be provided, ensuring you are well-equipped to start your career in this rewarding field.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in comprehensive training sessions on NDIS guidelines, person-centered care, and support methodologies.
- Assist experienced support workers in daily activities, helping clients achieve their personal goals and promoting independence.
- Learn to implement individual support plans under supervision, ensuring client needs and preferences are met.
- Support clients with community engagement, social outings, and recreational activities.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of client interactions and progress, adhering to privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Develop effective communication strategies with clients, their families, and the wider support team.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all clients.
Required Skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to show empathy, patience, and understanding.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Hold a current Australian Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check.
- Must have Australian working rights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or considering studies in Community Services, Disability Support, Social Work, or a related field.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Previous volunteer experience in a community or care setting is a plus, but not required.
