Job Description
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Day Shift Waitstaff to join our team on a casual basis at our Jamaica Blue cafe in Waurn Ponds. This role is perfect for someone looking for flexible daytime hours, providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced cafe environment. You’ll be the face of our cafe, ensuring every customer has a pleasant dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting customers warmly upon arrival and seating them appropriately
- Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
- Serving food and drinks to tables with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Clearing tables, washing dishes, and maintaining cleanliness of the dining area
- Assisting with basic food preparation and presentation as needed
- Handling cash and card payments using our POS system
- Restocking cutlery, napkins, and condiments
- Responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues promptly and politely
- Collaborating with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Basic numeracy for handling transactions
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant environment
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (if serving alcoholic beverages)
- Basic barista skills
