Job Description

Are you a university student looking for meaningful part-time work that fits around your studies? Goodstart Early Learning Springwood is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated After School Care Assistants to join our supportive team. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about child development, eager to create fun and engaging experiences for primary school-aged children after their school day. You’ll play a vital role in providing a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment, helping children unwind, learn, and grow through a variety of recreational and educational activities. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the childcare sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Organise and facilitate engaging indoor and outdoor activities, including arts, crafts, games, and sports.
  • Assist with homework support and encourage positive social interactions among children.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and fellow team members.
  • Adhere to all centre policies, procedures, and relevant child safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a university degree, preferably in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience in a volunteer or casual role working with children (e.g., babysitting, coaching, youth groups).
  • Valid Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain one prior to commencement.
