Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Aged Care Support Workers to join our team at a public aged care facility in Mackay. In this vital role, you will provide direct care and support to elderly residents, assisting them with daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their comfort and well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care, including showering, dressing, and grooming, while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  • Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate aids and techniques.
  • Help residents with mealtime assistance, ensuring nutritional needs are met and promoting a positive dining experience.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' health, behaviour, or well-being to nursing staff.
  • Engage residents in social activities and promote their participation in facility programs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and government regulations regarding aged care.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a respectful and caring atmosphere.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in working with the elderly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks associated with manual handling and personal care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in an aged care facility or similar healthcare setting.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety principles in a care environment.
