Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Anesthesiologist to join our dedicated medical team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive anesthetic care for patients undergoing various surgical, obstetric, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments to evaluate patient fitness for anesthesia and develop individualized anesthetic plans.
  • Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia, continuously monitoring patient vital signs and adjusting anesthetic depth as required.
  • Manage post-operative pain and provide critical care support in recovery areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Participate in on-call rotas and emergency anesthetic services.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise junior medical staff and participate in their training and development.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Adhere to all relevant medical and professional guidelines and standards.

Required Skills

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Anaesthetics or equivalent specialist registration (e.g., CESR)
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
  • Demonstrable experience in a broad range of anesthetic techniques and patient management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA)
  • Experience in a sub-specialty area of anesthesiology (e.g., cardiac, neuro, pediatric)
  • Participation in clinical research or audit projects
  • Teaching or supervisory experience in a clinical setting
