Job Description
Are you a compassionate individual with a passion for helping animals? Edmond Animal Welfare is seeking an organized and empathetic Animal Shelter Intake Coordinator to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you will be the first point of contact for animals entering our shelter, playing a crucial part in their initial care and record-keeping. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the intake process for all incoming animals, including stray, surrendered, and rescued animals.
- Perform initial assessments of animals for health, temperament, and immediate needs.
- Accurately complete and maintain detailed animal intake records, physical descriptions, medical history, and owner information.
- Communicate compassionately with the public regarding intake procedures, owner surrender options, and lost and found pets.
- Coordinate with veterinary staff for initial health checks, vaccinations, and microchipping upon intake.
- Ensure animals are appropriately housed, labeled, and photographed for adoption listings.
- Assist with transferring animals between kennels, examining rooms, and other designated areas.
- Provide basic care and comfort to newly admitted animals, including feeding, watering, and monitoring behavior.
- Maintain a clean and organized intake area, adhering to all sanitation and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic approach to both animals and people.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and database management.
- Ability to safely and humanely handle a variety of animal species and temperaments.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar animal care environment.
