Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Appliance Service Lead to join our fleet maintenance team in Port Pirie. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of various appliances within our extensive fleet, which includes refrigeration units, climate control systems, and other on-board electrical appliances in trucks and heavy equipment. You will lead a small team of technicians, ensuring all service activities comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This position requires strong technical acumen, leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence and minimizing fleet downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of appliance service technicians, providing guidance and technical support.
  • Perform complex diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on fleet appliances, including refrigeration units, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for fleet appliances to ensure reliability and extend asset life.
  • Manage parts inventory for appliance repairs, ensuring availability and cost-effective procurement.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all appliance maintenance activities.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices, safety procedures, and new technologies.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams and operational staff to coordinate service activities and minimize fleet downtime.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Linfox safety standards and relevant industry regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in appliance repair and maintenance, specifically with commercial or vehicle-mounted units.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team supervision experience.
  • Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in refrigeration, automotive electrical, or a related field.
  • Experience with fleet management software and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Certification in refrigerant handling (e.g., ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence).
  • Forklift license.
  • First Aid certification.
