Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Aquaculture Technician Assistant to join our dynamic team in Joondalup. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals passionate about marine life and sustainable food production, with no prior experience required. You will receive comprehensive on-the-job training in all aspects of aquaculture operations, from husbandry to water quality management. This role is perfect for someone eager to learn, willing to get their hands dirty, and committed to a career in the aquaculture industry. You will work alongside experienced technicians and contribute to the daily success of our facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily feeding and care of aquatic species.
- Monitor water quality parameters (e.g., pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen) and report anomalies.
- Help maintain and clean tanks, filtration systems, and other equipment.
- Support the harvesting and processing of aquatic products.
- Record data accurately and assist with inventory management.
- Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and biosecurity measures.
- Participate in facility maintenance and general upkeep tasks as required.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a wet and potentially odoriferous environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- Reliable transportation to our Joondalup facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- A genuine interest in marine biology, aquaculture, or environmental science.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry.
- Previous experience in a hands-on or outdoor work environment (not necessarily aquaculture related).
