Job Description
Join the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a vital member of our security team. As a Baggage Inspector, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our nation’s transportation systems by screening checked baggage for prohibited items. This is an essential federal position requiring vigilance, attention to detail, and a commitment to public safety. Key Responsibilities
- Operate advanced security screening equipment, including X-ray machines and explosive detection systems.
- Conduct thorough inspections of checked baggage to identify and resolve potential security threats.
- Perform manual baggage searches when necessary, following strict protocols and procedures.
- Adhere to all federal regulations and TSA policies related to baggage screening and security operations.
- Maintain accurate records of screening activities and report any unusual findings.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding security issues.
- Remain alert and attentive to detail in a fast-paced airport environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance security knowledge and skills.
Required Skills
- Ability to complete and pass all required federal and agency-specific training.
- High school diploma or GED.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 70 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience operating technical equipment.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
