Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to lead the bar operations at our new premium establishment in Tullamarine. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-volume, high-end hospitality environments, a deep passion for mixology, and exceptional leadership skills. This role is crucial for maintaining our reputation for excellence, ensuring the highest standards of beverage service, inventory management, staff development, and overall bar profitability. You will be responsible for creating a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere, exceeding guest expectations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to minimize waste and ensure product availability.
- Develop and maintain innovative cocktail menus, wine lists, and spirits selections.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and schedule bar staff, ensuring high levels of performance and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and liquor licensing regulations.
- Manage bar budgets, sales targets, and cost control initiatives.
- Maintain exceptional guest service standards and resolve any guest complaints efficiently.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.
- Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house management to ensure seamless operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Bar Manager or Assistant Bar Manager in a high-volume, premium establishment.
- Demonstrated expertise in mixology, spirits, wine, and beer knowledge.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, inventory control, and cost management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate.
- Proficiency with POS systems and inventory management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Experience with luxury hotel or resort bar operations.
- Advanced sommelier or cicerone certifications.
- Fluency in additional languages.
