Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Category Management Intern to join our team in Vallejo, California. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the fast-paced world of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) within a leading retail environment. The intern will support our Category Management team in analyzing market trends, evaluating product performance, and assisting in strategic planning to optimize product assortments and promotions. This is an entry-level internship designed for individuals eager to learn about retail strategy, consumer behavior, and supplier relationships, with full training provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and analysis related to sales performance, market trends, and consumer insights for assigned categories.
  • Support the Category Management team in preparing reports and presentations on category performance and opportunities.
  • Learn to evaluate promotional effectiveness and contribute ideas for future promotional strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, and supply chain, to understand their roles in category success.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify market gaps and potential new product opportunities.
  • Assist in managing supplier relationships, including data exchange and performance tracking.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions for category growth initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Business, Marketing, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn about the retail and FMCG industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior standing in an undergraduate program.
  • Previous exposure to retail or consumer goods through academic projects or volunteer work.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
