Job Description
Join Grainger as an Entry-Level Chemical Packer in our Salisbury, Maryland facility. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to start a career in industrial logistics and distribution with a focus on safety. We provide comprehensive, hands-on safety training, so no prior experience in chemical packing is necessary. You will be responsible for the safe and accurate packaging and handling of various industrial chemicals, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately pack various chemicals into designated containers according to company and regulatory standards.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing chemical containers for damage, leaks, or improper labeling.
- Apply appropriate labels and markings to packed products, ensuring correct product identification and hazard communication.
- Operate basic material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks (training provided), to move packaged goods within the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all housekeeping and safety protocols.
- Follow all established safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or discrepancies to a supervisor immediately.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and strict adherence to procedures.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels and completing documentation.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- No prior experience required; full safety training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial setting (even if not chemical-related) is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with basic computer systems for data entry (training provided).
