Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Dietetics Intern to join our Food Service team for a hands-on placement. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience within a busy hospital food service environment, working alongside experienced dietitians and food service professionals. You will learn about menu planning, therapeutic diets, food safety, and patient nutrition support in a real-world setting. This is an entry-level position designed for students currently enrolled in a Dietetics program, providing invaluable training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist registered dietitians in the assessment and planning of patient nutritional needs.
  • Observe and contribute to the development and implementation of hospital menus, including therapeutic and modified diets.
  • Learn about food production, service, and delivery systems within a large-scale hospital kitchen.
  • Participate in quality control and food safety procedures, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Support the food service team in daily operations, gaining exposure to inventory management and supply chain processes.
  • Shadow dietitians during patient consultations and ward rounds to understand clinical applications of dietetics.
  • Assist with data collection and basic administrative tasks related to food service and patient nutrition.
  • Engage actively in all learning opportunities and seek feedback for professional development.
