Job Description
We are offering an exciting clinical placement opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Medical Imaging Student. This placement is designed to provide hands-on experience in a real-world clinical setting, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge gained during your studies. Under the direct supervision of qualified radiographers and medical imaging professionals, you will observe and assist in various diagnostic imaging procedures, enhancing your practical skills and understanding of patient care within a hospital environment. This is an invaluable chance to develop your professional competencies and gain insights into the daily operations of a busy medical imaging department.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assist qualified radiographers in performing a variety of medical imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasound (as per scope of practice and supervision level).
- Learn about patient preparation protocols and ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures.
- Understand and adhere to radiation safety practices and protocols.
- Assist with equipment setup and maintenance under supervision.
- Practice effective communication with patients, explaining procedures clearly and empathetically.
- Participate in departmental meetings and educational sessions.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
- Actively engage with supervisors and team members to maximize learning outcomes.
- Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and professional ethics.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Medical Imaging (Radiography) degree program.
- Strong theoretical understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical imaging principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of foundational clinical skill modules within your degree program.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain academic good standing.
- Prior volunteer experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
