Job Description
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in your community? Mission Australia is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Community Development Intern to join our dedicated team in Springwood, Logan. This is an incredible opportunity for an individual with a strong social conscience and a desire to learn about the complexities and rewards of community work. As an intern, you will play a supportive role in various social impact projects, contributing to initiatives that empower individuals and strengthen community ties. We are looking for someone eager to gain practical experience, develop new skills, and contribute to meaningful change under the guidance of experienced professionals. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal entry-point for aspiring community development professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and coordination of community engagement events and workshops.
- Conduct research to identify community needs, resources, and potential partners.
- Support the team in developing and implementing community programs aimed at social impact.
- Prepare communication materials, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support to the Community Development team, including data entry and record keeping.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvement.
- Engage respectfully and empathetically with community members and service users.
- Help monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Previous volunteer experience in a community setting or non-profit organisation.
- Familiarity with the Logan City community and its demographics.
