Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and passionate Community Development Officer to join our dynamic team at the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. This role is crucial in developing and implementing programs and initiatives that enhance community engagement, improve social outcomes, and strengthen community resilience across the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region. You will work collaboratively with various community groups, stakeholders, and internal departments to identify needs, secure resources, and deliver impactful projects that align with the Council’s strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate community development programs and projects.
- Engage with community groups, residents, and stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities.
- Prepare funding applications and manage project budgets effectively.
- Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events.
- Monitor and report on project progress and outcomes.
- Advise Council on community development issues and strategies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to integrate community development principles.
- Contribute to the development of community profiles and strategic plans.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in community development or a related field.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Western Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work, Human Services, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a local government environment.
- Knowledge of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community and its unique social landscape.
- Experience in grant writing and funding acquisition.
