Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Compliance Director to lead our compliance function for the UK operations, based in Liverpool. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive compliance programs to ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies across our diverse business units. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in regulatory compliance, risk management, and ethical business practices within a large-scale consumer goods environment. You will work closely with legal, finance, and operational teams to foster a culture of integrity and ensure robust governance frameworks are in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework and strategy for all UK operations, aligned with global standards.
  • Identify and assess compliance risks, providing strategic recommendations and mitigation plans to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring timely adaptation of internal policies and procedures.
  • Lead internal investigations related to compliance matters and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors on compliance-related inquiries.
  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the Board of Directors and executive management.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to interpret complex regulations and provide practical advice to business units.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a senior compliance role within a multinational corporation, preferably in FMCG.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK and international regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, competition law, anti-bribery and corruption).
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective compliance programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CCEP, ICA Diploma).
  • Experience with compliance technology and risk management software.
  • Fluency in additional European languages.
  • Previous experience managing compliance for multiple product categories.
