Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Surgeon to join our dedicated team in Abingdon-on-Thames. This pivotal role involves providing expert surgical care across a range of specialties, contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions, and leading clinical excellence within our facility. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert surgical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for patients.
- Perform complex surgical procedures with precision and adherence to best practices.
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient records and surgical outcomes.
- Adhere to all clinical governance, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Contribute to clinical audit, research, and service improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in a relevant surgical specialty (e.g., General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology).
- FRCS or equivalent specialist surgical qualification.
- Demonstrable experience as a Consultant Surgeon in the UK or equivalent healthcare system.
- Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-specialty interest and fellowship training.
- Experience in clinical leadership or service development.
- Participation in clinical research and publications.
- Teaching and training experience.
