Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Council Front Desk – Customer Inquiry Center representative. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, providing essential information, assistance, and direction. You will handle a wide range of inquiries related to council services, community programs, local regulations, and more, ensuring a positive and efficient experience for all. This position requires excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a genuine desire to serve the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer inquiries in person, via phone, and email.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding council services, events, and local regulations.
- Assist residents with various applications, forms, and payment processing.
- Direct complex inquiries to appropriate departments or staff members.
- Maintain a tidy and professional front desk environment.
- Manage appointment bookings for various council services and staff.
- Handle and resolve customer complaints with professionalism and empathy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for customer service delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to privacy policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service or front desk role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle diverse customer inquiries with patience and professionalism.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a local government or public sector environment.
- Knowledge of local community services and resources in the Geelong region.
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to the local community.
