Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietitian / Clinical Nutritionist to join our multidisciplinary team in Burnaby, BC. This is a full-time, on-site position. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive nutritional assessment, counseling, and education to patients across various clinical settings. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients, developing individualized care plans.
- Provide evidence-based nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutritional interventions, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into overall patient care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care conferences.
- Document nutritional care accurately and completely in patient health records.
- Stay current with advancements in nutritional science and participate in continuing professional development.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the nutrition department and wider organization.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC). Full registration required upon hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical nutrition principles and their application in various disease states.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Dietetics or a related field.
- Experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Specialization or certification in a specific area of nutrition (e.g., diabetes education, renal nutrition, critical care).
- Fluency in a second language relevant to the local population (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi).
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and cultural backgrounds.
