Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Disability Employment Consultant to join our team in Mildura. In this vital role, you will empower individuals with disabilities to overcome barriers to employment, connect them with suitable job opportunities, and provide ongoing support to ensure successful placements. You will manage a diverse caseload, working closely with clients to assess their strengths, goals, and employment readiness, while also engaging with local businesses to develop meaningful job prospects. This role requires a proactive approach, strong empathy, and a solid understanding of the disability sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of job seekers with various disabilities, providing tailored support and guidance.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' skills, experience, employment goals, and support needs.
  • Develop individualised employment plans and pathways to employment.
  • Proactively engage with local employers to identify suitable job vacancies and create new opportunities for clients.
  • Match job seekers with appropriate roles and facilitate job interviews.
  • Provide post-placement support to both clients and employers to ensure successful and sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and progress using our internal systems.
  • Collaborate with allied health professionals, community services, and government agencies to provide holistic support to clients.
  • Meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) related to client placements and outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in employment services, case management, or a similar client-facing role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the disability sector and the challenges faced by job seekers with disabilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with diverse clients and employers.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with a capacity to manage a demanding caseload.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Current Australian driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within the region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Disability Services, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience specifically within the Disability Employment Services (DES) program.
  • Knowledge of local labour market conditions in Mildura and surrounding areas.
