Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Environmental Modeler to join our dynamic team in Glenorchy, Tasmania. This role involves applying advanced modeling techniques to assess and predict environmental impacts for a diverse range of projects. You will be instrumental in providing data-driven insights and solutions to complex environmental challenges, contributing to sustainable outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, calibrate, and validate environmental models (e.g., hydrological, air quality, contaminant transport, ecological) using various software platforms.
  • Analyze and interpret modeling results to inform environmental impact assessments, risk assessments, and management plans.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and proposals outlining modeling methodologies, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including environmental scientists, engineers, and planners.
  • Conduct data collection, processing, and quality assurance for model input.
  • Stay abreast of new modeling techniques, software, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings and project discussions to present modeling outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in environmental modeling software (e.g., MIKE SHE, MODFLOW, AERMOD, CALPUFF, GoldSim, R, Python).
  • Strong understanding of environmental processes (e.g., hydrology, hydrogeology, air dispersion, geochemistry).
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data analysis and visualization.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical report writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with programming languages for data analysis and model automation (e.g., Python, R).
  • Familiarity with Australian environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Previous consulting experience in environmental modeling.
