Job Description

Are you an aspiring environmental scientist eager to gain hands-on experience in the field? Aqua America is seeking a motivated Environmental Science Student for an internship focused on field research and sampling. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, learn essential field techniques, and contribute to vital environmental monitoring projects. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for students with a strong desire to learn and make a tangible impact on water quality and environmental health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection of water, soil, and air samples from various field locations.
  • Operate and maintain field equipment under supervision.
  • Accurately record and document field data and observations.
  • Transport samples to designated laboratories for analysis.
  • Conduct basic on-site environmental parameter measurements (e.g., pH, temperature, conductivity).
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to data entry and preliminary report preparation.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related degree program.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for environmental protection and field work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of environmental sampling techniques.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
