Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic ESOL Teacher to join our diverse team in Chichester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to empower learners from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds, helping them to develop essential English language skills for everyday life, further education, and employment. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality ESOL lessons tailored to the diverse needs and proficiency levels of adult learners.
  • Develop and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with ESOL methodologies.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, referring to specialist services when appropriate.
  • Adhere to all college policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding and equality.

Required Skills

  • CELTA, DELTA, PGCE, or equivalent recognised ESOL teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching ESOL to adult learners.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.
  • A patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach to teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various ESOL levels, from Pre-Entry to Level 2.
  • Knowledge of the UK ESOL curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Experience working in a further education college setting.
  • Ability to speak another language (desirable, but not essential).
